HDB construction sites in Singapore will see a fascinating transformation as the use of robotics/Artificial Intelligence takes a leap.

This will help alleviate labour shortages, increase efficiency and save costs, among other things.

Singapore-listed firms ISOTeam and ISDN Holdings and others are set to catalyse the change. (See: ISOTEAM: What's that buzzing sound? It's drones painting your HDB block!)

ISDN has just said it has entered into an exclusive agreement with DaFang AI of China to distribute DaFang’s "advanced building surface finishing solutions" in Singapore and Malaysia.

ISDN’s subsidiary, Servo Dynamics, will hold the exclusive rights for an initial term of 3 years, with an automatic renewal for another 3 years.

DaFang specialises in the design and production of intelligent robots for the construction industry.

Leveraging on cloud computing and intelligent sensor technology, the robots are able to reduce labour costs by 50-80%, save material waste by 15-50%, and boost overall construction efficiency by 5-10 times.

Achieved accolades that DaFang lists on its website include being recognized as one of the "Top 100 Enterprises in China" at the 2021 Sci-Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Investment Summit.

HDB 10.24Notably, DaFang’s products have received approval from HDB for adoption in the domestic construction industry, said ISDN.

In conjunction with this partnership, ISDN has also entered into a Robotics Training Agreement with DaFang through ISDN Academy.

This Academy is managed by Performance Leadership Pte. Ltd., a spin-off from ISDN, set to provide quality training in robotic, automation, and industry 4.0.

This cooperation aims to provide users with comprehensive training programs for DaFang robots with necessary certifications and skills development.

The programs are tailored for a wide range of participants, from basic robot operators to robotic engineers and robot trainers.

To boost construction efficiency, HDB plans to implement more robotics in painting for about half of the new Build-To-Order projects from 2025.

That sure is a large deployment of drones and robots -- an army of them, if you like -- to help build tens of thousands of HDB flats.

Meanwhile, opportunities exist for ISDN in Malaysia’s construction industry which is expected to grow steadily, with a compound annual growth rate  of 5.4% from 2024 to 2028.

It will allow us to capture a larger pie of the overall industrial automation market in Asia and enhance our market presence.

"With our deep sector expertise and network, we are confident in marketing DaFang’s cutting-edge solutions as well as providing reliable after-sales support. We look forward to working with HDB as well as commercial players to drive the adoption of robots in the construction industry and boost.”
