FANCY A hotel general manager washing your car? Or a company CFO?
Well, motorists had that experience recently as part of a charity event.
Several bigwigs from Roxy-Pacific Holdings and a Member of Parliament sportingly washed cars on 1 June. The 10-hour event raised $44,925 from motorists, and was topped up by another $15,000 from Roxy-Pacific.
Roxy-Pacific, a boutique property developer, is the organiser of an annual programme, Children are Our Hope for the Future 2012, aimed at helping disadvantaged children.
Proceeds raised were distributed in various forms.
There was a charity dinner sponsored by, and hosted on June 8 at, Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore, which is owned by Roxy Pacific.
At the dinner were guest of honour, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and 95 children and youths -- and their families -- from low income backgrounds.
Mr Goh presented 12 children from Geylang Serai and 3 students from Nanyang Polytechnic with a new laptop each.
Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore handed over a donation of $5,000 to Jamiyah Children’s Home.
And 60 students studying in CHIJ Katong, Ngee Ann Primary and Tao Nan School each received $250 in the form of $50 Popular Book vouchers, $100 NTUC vouchers and $100 cash.
The annual charity programme was organized by Roxy Pacific Holdings, Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel & Marine Parade Citizen Consultative Committee and co-organised by Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen, Ibis Singapore on Novena and Accor Asia Pacific Singapore.
