Don't forget the rarity value : An Olympic gold has never been achieved by Singapore, therefore it will dangle a big carrot for it.

But the US, Russia.... they get a bagful of gold medals all the time.
And their country isn't exactly getting richer by the day.

I am willing to pay $5m to the one who can produce a local born Singaporean Olympic game medal winner, any medal.
Can $5m produce an olympic medal winner of true local born Singaporean?
We waited 52 yrs, and 250K is small money for 52yrs wait. 52 yrs is definmitely worth much much more.
I believe we got to wait another 520 yrs. I am sorry if that is insulting, just put that question to PM Lee. Can you give us a local born Singaporean olympic medal winner within the next 20 yrs.?

So you see, the lesson we can learn is : be immensely skeptical about rumours going viral on Twitter, the Internet, et. Stick to rational thinking. If anything had happened to LKY, the announcement would have been made promptly  .....etc. U must know the way things work.

As in Value Investing, do your best to sieve our rumours. There are true value gems around among ....S-chips.
