ALPHONSUS CHIA, 56, resigned as deputy CEO of XMH Holdings with effect from 14 July 2015.
He had been holding that post for nearly three years after being recruited from Singapore Cooperation Enterprise where he was CEO (2007-2012).
It is a government agency with a mission "to share Singapore’s public sector expertise and lead in public sector collaboration projects with interested foreign governments."
Prior to that, Mr Chia was Deputy CEO of IE Singapore (2004-2007).
XMH said Mr Chia, who holds 235,000 XMH shares (unchanged from when he joined XMH), resigned to pursue personal interests.
Aside from his golfing interest, Mr Chia is a chess expert, having represented Singapore in international chess and was National Junior Champion at various times. He holds both the FIDE (World Chess Federation) Master and National Master titles.
