ARIS SUNARKO, 53, (above) is CEO of Samko Timber, one of the 5 largest producers of tropical hardwood plywood in the world.
Started by his father in 1978 as a timber processor, Samko now has diverse operations far and wide in Indonesia.
It has forest concessions in Java and Sumatra and large manufacturing and processing facilities in Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi islands.

Mr Sunarko's father, Koh Boon Hong, is now 77 and is non-executive chairman of Samko.
The Sunarko family and another major shareholder, Sampoerna Forestry, collectively own about 80% of the company. It's almost equally split between the 2.
Samko was listed on the Singapore Exchange in 2008. Four years on, Samko Timber has emerged as one of the largest businesses in its industry in Indonesia.
